LGBT IN ISRAEL AND
THE PINKWASHING STRATEGY

Israel is one of the most LGBT-friendly country in the Middle East region. The government has re-brand Israel, especially the city of Tel Aviv, as the most LGBT-friendly city in the world. The government has also established policies in perhaps one of the most conservative department in a country: the military. As a result, the country quickly became a paradise for the LGBT community within the country and across the world.

On the other hand, these policies are believed to be directly linked to a political purpose, or commonly called as Pinkwashing. Pinkwashing is a term which can be understood as a strategy that was carried out by the government to conceal the continuing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

This video essay discusses the two-sided issue and how nationalism plays its role in this Israeli government's political strategy.
